Pico do Areeiro Sunrise Transfer: Self-Guided Stairway to Heaven

Explore Madeira’s mountains at sunrise with a self-guided hike, starting at Pico do Areeiro and walking at your own pace through the island’s most dramatic high-altitude scenery.

This experience is ideal if you want total freedom on the trail, while we take care of the logistics: pickup, transfer, and clear instructions before you start.

You’ll begin before dawn to watch the sunrise at Pico do Areeiro, then continue on a route that includes the famous Stairway to Heaven section and the panoramic Vereda do Burro trail, finishing at the Ecological Park of Funchal.

Alternative program: Pico do Areeiro sunrise + Stairway to Heaven (2.5 km round trip) + Vereda do Burro (7.3 km).
