About the webcams, the weather, and how to use them.
How many live webcams are on this page?
Twenty-one active streams, grouped by region: South Coast, North Coast, East Coast, Mountains, and Porto Santo. The list is pulled from our verified database and checked hourly — if a feed goes offline, we flag it rather than hide the card silently.
Are these real-time, or replays?
Real-time. Every embed is a live YouTube broadcast from Madeira-Web or Netmadeira. Time-lapses and scheduled videos are filtered out so you only see currently-streaming cameras.
Which webcam should I check before driving to Pico do Arieiro?
The Mountains tab has the highest-altitude feeds. If they show white, the summit is in cloud — common even when the south coast is sunny. Madeira's mountains create their own microclimate: checking before you drive saves a wasted journey at 5 AM.
Is there a Madeira Airport webcam for planespotting?
Yes, in the East Coast tab. Madeira Airport (LPMA / FNC) sits at sea level between Santa Cruz and Machico, so the runway camera doubles as a coastal weather check. The approach over the sea cliffs from the east is one of the most dramatic in Europe.
Is there a Porto Santo webcam?
Yes, in the Porto Santo tab. The island's 9 km of golden-sand beach sits 40 km north-east of Madeira. The feed occasionally goes offline during local provider maintenance — we don't pad the page with a stale image when that happens.
Why use webcams to plan a Madeira day?
Madeira's weather changes fast between valleys. The south coast can be clear and warm while the north coast is under cloud, and the mountains are a different world entirely. A 30-second webcam check before you leave the hotel can redirect your whole day — and regularly does for people who know to use it.
